Introduction
Serendipity is a community presence app that helps members of coworking spaces, offices, and other shared communities discover who is nearby and connect with one another. By accessing or using Serendipity, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the app.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use Serendipity. By using the app, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
You must be a member of a participating community (such as a coworking space, office, or organization) that uses Serendipity. Access to the app is limited to members of registered communities.
Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the security and confidentiality of your account. Serendipity uses Sign in with Apple for authentication. Each person may maintain only one account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
Acceptable Use
When using Serendipity, you agree to:
- Treat other community members with respect and professionalism.
- Use your real name and a genuine photo of yourself as your profile picture.
- Only post content that is appropriate for a professional community setting.
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Prohibited Content and Conduct
Serendipity has a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content or abusive behavior.
You may not use Serendipity to post, share, or transmit any content or engage in any conduct that involves:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, or intimidation of any kind.
- Sexually explicit, violent, or graphic content.
- Hate speech, discrimination, or slurs based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
- Spam, scams, phishing, or unsolicited commercial solicitation.
- Impersonation or misrepresentation of your identity or affiliation.
- Sharing another person's personal information without their consent (doxxing).
- Content that promotes, encourages, or facilitates illegal activity.
Violation of this policy will result in immediate content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban at our sole discretion.
Content Moderation
Serendipity actively moderates content to maintain a safe and respectful community. Our moderation practices include:
- Automated photo screening: Profile photos are automatically screened for inappropriate or explicit images.
- Text content filtering: User-generated text content is filtered for prohibited language and content.
- User reporting tools: All users can report objectionable content or abusive behavior directly within the app.
- Admin review: Community administrators review reported content and take appropriate action.
We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend or terminate any account at our sole discretion, without prior notice, if we determine that the content or conduct violates these terms or is otherwise objectionable.
Reporting and Blocking
Serendipity provides tools to help you manage your experience and keep the community safe:
- Report users: You can report any user for objectionable content or abusive behavior using the report feature within the app.
- Block users: You can block any user to prevent mutual visibility. When you block someone, they are immediately removed from your view and you are removed from theirs.
All reports are reviewed by our team. We will act on reports of objectionable content within 24 hours. Appropriate actions include content removal, warnings, account suspension, or permanent bans depending on the severity of the violation.
Account Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms of Service. Specifically:
- Users who post objectionable content will have that content removed and may have their account suspended or terminated.
- Repeated violations of these terms will result in a permanent ban from the platform.
- We may suspend accounts during an investigation of reported behavior.
You may delete your account at any time from within the app under Settings. Account deletion is permanent and will remove all of your data from our systems, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of all content you create and post on Serendipity, including your profile information, photos, and help requests. By posting content on Serendipity, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute that content within the app for the purpose of operating the service.
This license ends when you delete your content or your account. We do not use your content for advertising or sell it to third parties.
Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
Serendipity is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be available at all times, uninterrupted, or error-free.
Serendipity facilitates connections between community members but is not responsible for the conduct of any user, whether online or offline. You use the app and interact with other users at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Capital Thought, LLC and its officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of Serendipity.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by other means. Your continued use of Serendipity after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
